I’m very excited to announce our salon now is offering keratin treatments (also known as “Brazilian Blowouts.”) This is a long-lasting smoothing treatment using keratin, a natural protein found in hair and nails. There is no formaldehyde or harsh chemicals used, and unlike a relaxer, the hair will not be damaged.

It is different from a Japanese relaxer because it can be used on highlighted and bleached hair. Your hair’s texture actually improves with repeated keratin treatments. A treatment lasts up to 12 weeks. The end result is healthier, shinier, frizz-free hair that behaves even in humid Ohio summer conditions!

I can now be found styling across the street! I’ve moved to a new salon, James M. It is in the Summit Plaza on Smith Road, behind Citizen’s Bank (right across the street from Summit Mall.)

This salon is a bit smaller, but has a great atmosphere. The best part is, I can still work with the Aveda products and color I have come to know and love! I am very excited about this opportunity. To help in this transition, I am offering all my clients 50 percent off their first visit, 25 percent off their second visit, and 10 percent off their third visit. I hope to see you all very soon! Aveda Earth Month events

April is Earth Month and Aveda is having many events at the salon to celebrate it. All proceeds from our fundraisers will benefit the Ohio River Foundation.

Raffle tickets for Toyota Prius - All month – 1 ticket for $5 or 3 for $10
Bake sale - April 10 and 11 (a Friday and Saturday)
Earth Month Pamper Days - April 21 (Tuesday), 2-5 p.m. and April 23 (Thursday), 4-7 p.m. – Choose any three pampering treatments and enjoy Hors d’oeuvres and Italian sodas for a $10 donation. Every visitor will take home a sapling April 23. Treatments include: relaxing foot soak and massage; mini-facial; moisturizing paraffin dip; hand and arm treatment; and stress relieving chair massage.
“Baby steps” – We’re also selling “Baby step” footprints for a Clean Water Walk on April 26. We will be walking four miles to represent the distance most people in developing countries walk to get clean water. The money will be donated to the Global Green Grants. A blue footprint is $1 and a gold one is $5.

Who wants to help me get to NYC?

My salon is participating in Aveda’s “Color your way to New York” contest. I could possibly be sent to NYC to attend a class given by David Adams (if you are not an Aveda person, I have to tell you, he is a BIG DEAL) and also get a day of shopping on Aveda’s dime. I really want to win! I have until May 5th to complete my board and send it in, but I’d like to get it in way before that if possible.

It’s kind of like a Bingo board, with five of each service we’re supposed to do scattered around and it has to be completed to enter the contest. There are a lot of salons participating but they are giving away 24 trips, so odds are a little better than if there were just one.

Services I have to perform include botanical conditioning treatments (for $15, the same treatment that is used for the $50 hair facial), color swirl foil technique ($40 service that usually costs $56–up to seven foils curving around the front part of the head, making it so that you either see a lot or a little bit of highlights depending on how you part your hair), color glossing (treating/refreshing your faded hair with a conditioning semi-permanent color), and then the easy ones–sell 3 products and get a friend/family member referral.

So…if any of the above services sound good to you (and they should because those prices are way lower than usual), call 330-867-6975, ask for Sara of course.

Spring is approaching and that means we have a lot to look forward to — the days getting longer and the temperature (slowly) rising, Earth Month events in the salon, and the return of lighter hair!
